"RED TO GREEN": Considering the differences between earth and mars, a pressurized greenhouse was adapted, able to maintain a proper environment, for plants' development. The hidroponia method was applied. The greenhouse can store the crop by means of nitrogen injection. The capture of energy is with graphene and solar cells on the whole frame. It has an android for completing functions that replace humans. The greenhouse is controlled by an expert system that makes it self-sustainable.

This project is solving the Deployable Greenhouse challenge.

Description

Objetive:

Designing a conceptual model that is self-sustaining greenhouse on the planet Mars. To viable solution to the problem of insufficient time spent by a crew on Mars.

How:

The "RED TO GREEN" is to send a self-sustaining greenhouse to the red planet, Mars. Taking into account the differences in gravity, pressure, temperature, atmosphere and surface, the greenhouse was adapted internally pressurized, able to maintain a relatively constant temperature and humidity, adequate enough for the development of plants. We applied the method of hydroponics to avoid bringing ground stratified mixtures on the trip can be compacted so they can finish eroded, and with that old method crops would have a constant demand for irrigation, a limiting factor since there is no water on Mars and even less can be in the position to send water weekly. The greenhouse is suitable to store the crop without losing its nutritional and organoleptic properties by nitrogen injection process to product. Regarding the energy captured graphene is performed (with solar cell implantation, coating the entire frame), the material from which the dome is made greenhouse which covers the external agents, and then distributed according to its requirement. It has an android called FARMER and is responsible to fulfill several functions that replace human labor in the greenhouse that receives commands from an expert system also receives information from the sensors and allows the greenhouse to be self-sustaining.
