This project is solving the Earth Day Challenge challenge.
This web application shows the facts of deforestation from time to time in Indonesia and how it affects the population of orangutan. Orangutan is known as the umbrella species, meaning that it has very crucial function in the nature, in the forest in particular. Deforestation is one of the biggest threat to their existence, and our existence as human.
In the future this application could map the actual population and location of orangutan thanks to the orangutan monitoring system/activity normally done by the orangutan survival foundation/societies/activities, and how to prepare and predict the best place for orangutan to live thanks to NASA earth observatory data.
